Middle England

Filed under: poems — dave @ 6:01 pm

With a million single mothers all sponging off the state
The need for right wing government simply cannot wait.
Our streets are crammed with buggies, it really is a bore
the way it spoils our school-run in our Audi four-by-four.

The little bastards’ parents if daddy can be caught,
Should be forced to marry or encouraged to abort.
If not, then stop their benefits, it simply could not fail.
Well, that’s what Richard Kay said in last week’s Daily Mail.

Another increase in the dole means unemployment’s risen;
So boost the need for labourers and build a few more prisons.
It’s such a simple remedy, with this one step alone
we’d solve two problems overnight, both birds with one stone.

And Jon Smythe has a new boss, a former employee,
It seems he only got the job because of his degree.
I’m told that it’s a good one but a prole is still a prole.
Imagine Jon’s embarrassment – a hireling in control!’

They boast of ritzy holidays, they talk of apres-ski,
Of sacrifices they all make for tax-relieved school-fees,
Of the cost of rearing children, the cost to see them wed
And the crippling cost of nursing homes and burying their dead.
They talk of falling profits and how the market dives
In the palliating solace of their comfortable lives.

So rejoice with Middle England and hearken to its voice,
Homologise and compromise, you really have no choice,
Refuse to share its bigotry and dare to disagree
And you will find just how unkind the bourgeoisie can be.
